9th Charity Golf Tournament on Himalayan Times
What a great day we had at the 9th SIRC Charity Golf Tournament! The sun shone while play was underway, and thankfully, the rain held off until the prize giving and raffle draw was complete. There were ten lucky golfing winners, and a further 4 lucky raffle winners, so many smiling faces on Saturday afternoon. SIRC was humbled and happy to receive substantial cash donations from 28 esteemed members of the Royal Nepal Golf Club for which we are most grateful. We would like to thank our Main Sponsor – Nepal Investment Bank Ltd., our Key Sponsor – ICTC, our In-Kind Sponsors, our many Hole Sponsors and prize Donors, for helping us make this event a special one. Just under Rs.560,000 was raised to benefit the Poor Patient Fund at SIRC. We salute you all. Hope to see you next year.
The Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Center, run by non-profit Spinal Injury Sangha Nepal, seeks to roll back, as far as possible, the despair that is the burden of victims of spinal injury and their families. Sir Edmund Hillary opened the Center on 7 April 2002. The spinal injury rehabilitation centre is an independent organization that only recently has received funding from the government sector.
The SIRC Charity Golf Tournament sports perhaps the most graceful trophy for any sporting event in Nepal. The event has been continuously organized every year as a token of respect for the people living with spinal injury and at the same time aims to raise fund for the spinal injury rehabilitation centre.
This tournament leads up to SIRC’s 12th Anniversary celebration on 7th April 2014 and hence plays vital role. The program will be a gathering of prominent personalities including Miss Ishani Shrestha – the current Miss Nepal, Excellencies and golf lovers of Nepal.
